There are many cases of birth defects and there are multiple types. And many factors can cause it like drugs, missing chromosomes, and missing genes.
When a baby have a severe birth defect like cyclopia, life can end during birth. Even if the baby survives, the chances of living low is pretty low to almost none.
Like the baby on the said video, it captured many opinions and statement whether mercy killing is the right thing to do for the suffering infant.
The baby's condition is so unfortunate that people questioned the god for such suffering. And some says that the baby is the proof the there is no god and the baby was a perfect example of the devil's work.
