On Tuesday, an architecture student, was stabbed eighteen times when he was on his way home in Taguig City.
The story of Nick Russel Oniot made the headlines and gathered the fury and sympathy of many Filipinos especially students like him.
Now, the actual CCTV footage of the distressing incident surfaced on the internet and the fury of netizens has been lit up once again.
The shows Oniot walking home from school when one of the suspects halted him and forcibly grabbed his bag. The other suspect then stabbed the victim mercilessly. The two suspects left him and his backpack quickly after the crime.
It can be seen that Oniot still had the strength to call for a jeepney but was unfortunately ignored by the driver.
The father of Oniot, Renato, protested against the witnesses as it can be seen on the footage that they did not help the victim despite seeing him bloodied and lying on the ground.
"Sumilip lang tapos pumasok ulit. Dapat sana nagmalasakit sila, dahil nakita nila yung anak ko, naka-uniporme, may ID, hindi naman masamang tao, baka iniisip nila masama ring tao yun," Renato said.
The suspects were already arrested by the police and were identified as Ricardo Clave and Marvin Bernardo being the stabber.
Netizens were rejoiced when one of the suspects, Bernardo, was killed by the police.
According to Sentral Signal Barangay Captain Nicnoc Duenas, Bernardo stole the gun of a police officer while they were on their way to the headquarters so another police officer shot him down to death.
"Dahil siguro sa kagustuhan niya na makatakas, inagaw ang baril ng pulis natin. Ngayon hawak niya yung baril ng pulis natin dhil nasa imminent danger na, binaril nung kasamang pulis," he narrated.
Renato urged the administration to enforce the criminality campaign so dreadful incidents like this won't happen again.
"Dapat maalis talaga yung mga ganyang krimen, lalong lalo na sa mga estudyante, kampante silang naglalakad, ayun pala, may mga kriminal na nakaabang," he said.
