Ex-president Aquino defends De Lima regarding drug involvement
On Friday, Former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III said he never knew of any information showing links of his secretary of justice, now Senator Leila De Lima, to illegal narcotics trade.
In an interview with GMA, Aquino said he was hoping for due process to shed light on the truth regarding De Lima's connections to illegal drug business especially to the Bilibid drug trade.
"Noong panahon ko, ni chismis na may papasukan si Leila na ilegal, ni chismis wala," he said.
"Ang bigat nitong paratang at ako'y umaasa na nandiyan ang proseso, na mapapalabas natin 'yung buong katotohanan, " he added.
Aquino also said he expressed his support for De Lima through text messaging.
"May isang buwan at kalahati na yata last time kami nagkausap. Time to time baka may text, kinakamusta ko siya, sinasabi kong pinagdarasal ko sya," he said.
